Youth Sports

The YMCA offers a wide variety opportunities for kids to participate in sports. All YMCA Youth Sports follow the philosophy that every kid deserves the chance to play and have fun! YMCA Youth Sports are designed to teach specific skills of the sport, introduce the idea of teamwork, teaching sportsmanship, demonstrating positive values, getting parents involved and for everyone to experience the joy of playing!

Summer is coming!


Summer Football Camp (3rd-6th Grades)

The Oahe YMCA, working with the Governor Football Staff and players, is offering Football Skills Camp.Coaches from the Governors football staff and current Governor Players will run this camp which will stress the fundamentals of football and improving the players’ fitness level.  During the first two weeks of camp, coaches will work on a variety of fundamental skills and concepts, keeping contact minimal during the first two weeks of camp. Pads will be handed out and contact will increase during the last two weeks of camp.

Skills and concepts covered during the camp:  passing, catching, ball handling, tackling, blocking, position instruction and more.

Dates June 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 27    


3rd and 4th grades:  9:45am-10:45am  

5th and 6th grades 11:00am-12:00

Days:  Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays                    

Cost: $60.00 members/ $75.00 non-members

Who: Camp is open to 3rd – 6th graders (Fall 2019).

Where: Camp will be held at the Riggs lower practice field.

Deadline for camp is May 31st.


Avera Sports Performance Training Camps (5th-12th grades)

High School athletes throughout the Avera region can improve their agility, footwork and strength through a Sports Performance Training program.  This traditional, small-group training method includes:  Resistance training using weights and resistance bands, weight lifting, agility drills with ladders and cones.  No matter your athletic goals, discover your maximum potential when you participate in one of Avera's strength and conditioning programs.  Middle and High School athletes of all sports and abilities can take advantage of Avera's high intensity training programs.  Visit Avera.org/sports to learn more about programs that will transform you into a stronger, more explosive athlete.

Dates June 5th-July 24th  


5th-8th grades:  8:15-9:30am or 11:15am-12:30

9th-12th grades:  6:45-8:00am or 9:45-11:00am

Days:  Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays                   

Cost: $150.00 members/ $175.00 non-members

Who: Camps are open to 5th – 12th graders (Fall 2019).

British Soccer Summer Camp (4-12 year olds)

June 17th-June 21st, 2019

The Challenger International Soccer Camp will offer programs for each age/ability level.
