Youth Sports

The YMCA offers a wide variety opportunities for kids to participate in sports. All YMCA Youth Sports follow the philosophy that every kid deserves the chance to play and have fun! YMCA Youth Sports are designed to teach specific skills of the sport, introduce the idea of teamwork, teaching sportsmanship, demonstrating positive values, getting parents involved and for everyone to experience the joy of playing!

Coming up:

Mini Mighty Mite Basketball (Kindergarten)

Fun with basketball and friends.  Mini Mighty Mites is an introduction to the basic skills of basketball.  Children get to keep the basketball the last night of the program.  For Kindergarten boys and girls.
Mondays - March 2nd –March 23rd - 4 nights from 6:00-6:45pm 

Cost:  $24.00 for members/$34.00 for non-members (Includes a new basketball!!) 
Register:  At the YMCA, 900 East Church Street.  This program is limited to 56 kids.
Deadline:  Must be pre-registered by February 26th.  This is a limited program.

Mighty Mite Basketball (1st & 2nd Grades)

Mighty Mites works on the skills needed to play basketball.  It focuses on the fundamentals such as passing, dribbling, shooting, good sportsmanship, game play, etc for 1st and 2nd grade boys and girls. 

The cost for the program is $24.00 for YMCA members and $34.00 for anyone that is not a member of the YMCA.  Financial assistance is available upon completion of required paperwork.  The money is used to help cover the costs of the program directors, building costs, equipment and printing.  The YMCA does not use tax dollars to support any of its programs.  It depends solely on program fees, membership fees, and donations to support its building costs, programs and staff.

We need volunteers to coach and teach the basic skills.  Parents, please sign up on the form below if you are willing to help coach.  We will supply the information to help and you will be contacted prior to the beginning of the program if you are needed.

This program will meet at Jefferson School on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.  Mighty Mites is 4 weeks that will run from March 3rd – March 26th.   Mighty Mites is limited to the first 36 children signed up for each session. Session 1 = 6:00-6:45pm or Session 2 = 7:00-7:45pm.  Mighty Mite entries are due by February 26th or when the program fills.

Co-Ed Soccer

Soccer – a fast paced game well suited to girls and boys of all ages and abilities.  Offered to Kindergarten through 3rd grade, boys and girls.  Soccer will meet Tuesday and Thursday evenings, begins Tuesday, April 7th - Thursday, May 14th (6 weeks) from 6:00-6:45pm and will meet at Jefferson School Field.  

Register at the YMCA.  Deadline for registration is April 2nd. 

Cost:  $36.00 members/$46.00 non-members. 


Preschool Soccer

An introduction to the basic skills of soccer and the players receive a soccer ball on the last night of the program.  For 4-6 year olds both boys and girls (If your 6 year old is in Kindergarten they need to sign up for YMCA Co-ed Soccer.  Co-ed soccer is offered on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.  Forms are available at the YMCA.)  Soccer will meet Mondays from 6:00-6:45pm.  April 20th, 27th and May 4th at Jefferson School Field.

Register at the YMCA, 900 East Church.  Deadline:  This program is limited to the first 48 players registered.

Cost: $21.00 members/$31.00 non-member.

International Soccer Camp (3-14 year olds)

Challenger Sports is offering a soccer camp June 22-26, 2020.

Challenger Sports run over 4,000 professionally staffed summer camps and year-round coaching programs for players of all ages and abilities. Conveniently located in your local soccer communities, and in addition to helping develop your child’s soccer skills, confidence, and understanding of the game, Challenger encourages children to become independent learners; to develop socially; and to better understand the meaning of respect, responsibility, integrity, sportsmanship, and leadership. Challenger’s innovative curriculum will engage, educate, and entertain your child and each camp program include a free ball, t-shirt, poster, plus campers registering 30 days or more prior to camp will immediately receive a replica game jersey while supplies last!
