Starting a Swimming Routine

PRESS RELEASE
The South Dakota Prairie Masters Swimming, a group of adult swimmers across the State of South Dakota, is announcing their new logo created by Britton, South Dakota high school senior Natalie Allcock. Three foot by six foot banners will be displayed with the logo Natalie Allcock created in facilities all over the state.

Master swim programs in South Dakota exist in many places including their local YMCA’s, community pools, and colleges and universities. In the State of South Dakota there are organized master programs in the following communities, Aberdeen, Mitchell, Pierre, Rapid City, and Sioux Falls. Many other communities have individual swimmers that use masters to guide them through their fitness training.

Please check the website usms.org and click places to swim and click a picture of the State of South Dakota. There you will find times and places available to swim.

Who can join? Anyone 18 years of age or older can join a local program. Programs are open to fitness, competitive, open water, and triathlon swimmers alike. You don’t have to be racing the clock to experience the rewards in US Masters Swimming.

USMS also has many organized events one can swim in their own pool like the one hour postal swim, go the distance, and check off challenge. Masters can swim in a meet sponsored by the Rapid City Racers on July 1-3, 2011. One can go the website for more details or contact President Jenny Hodges at jenny@oaheymca.net (605) 224-1683 or Registrar Mary Turner at turnlaw2@iwon.com (605) 494-0260 for more details.
